Registering for the Executive Programme of the Company Secretary (CS) course comes down to three decisions: which route you qualify under, what the total bill is, and which session's cut-off you can still make. A wrong call on any one costs you money or a session.

The money has a firm answer. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) lists a total of ₹18,900 for a student who has passed the CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET), the entry exam taken after Class 12. Graduates and other direct entrants pay more, and the exam fee comes on top.

Registration and the exam form are two separate steps with separate windows. A registration that reaches ICSI after the cut-off cannot sit the immediate session.

The figures below are as of October 2026 and follow ICSI's schedule effective 15 April 2026. Every figure comes from ICSI's own documents, and where numbers are added together, the working is shown.

Which route into the Executive Programme applies to you?

Executive registration is open to candidates who have passed CSEET or CS Foundation, graduates and postgraduates of any discipline, CA Intermediate passes, CMA Final passes, and integrated-programme students from the 6th semester. Final-year degree students can register provisionally. Class 12 students sit CSEET first.

CA is Chartered Accountancy (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) and CMA is Cost and Management Accountancy (Institute of Cost Accountants of India). ICSI's fee schedule and FAQ, updated 10 April 2026, group the categories like this:

You areICSI registration total (with optional journal)
Passed CSEET₹18,900
Passed CS Foundation₹18,900
Graduate or postgraduate, any discipline₹23,900
CA Intermediate pass₹23,900
CMA Final pass₹23,900
Passed, or appearing in, the 6th semester of a five-year integrated programme₹23,900
Appearing in the final year or final semester of a degree₹23,900

ICSI's category list sets no percentage-of-marks condition for graduates. A final-year or final-semester student registers provisionally on submitting the admit card. Class 12 students first clear CSEET, which ICSI restructured from the June 2026 session.

What does CS Executive registration cost in total?

Compulsory registration costs ₹18,400 for CSEET or CS Foundation passers and ₹23,400 for direct entrants. ICSI's published totals add an optional ₹500 journal, giving ₹18,900 and ₹23,900. Both come from the fee schedule effective 15 April 2026 and hold as of October 2026.

ComponentCSEET or Foundation passedDirect entry
Registration fee₹2,000₹2,000
Education fee₹12,900₹12,900
CSEET exemption feeNil₹5,000
Pre-Exam Test fee₹1,000₹1,000
Three Days Orientation Programme (TDOP) fee₹2,500₹2,500
Chartered Secretary journal, one year (optional)₹500₹500
ICSI total₹18,900₹23,900

Our calculation of the compulsory amount: ₹2,000 + ₹12,900 + ₹1,000 + ₹2,500 = ₹18,400. A direct entrant adds the ₹5,000 exemption fee: ₹18,400 + ₹5,000 = ₹23,400.

Older figures still circulate. ICSI's schedule effective 1 October 2023 gave totals of ₹10,600 and ₹15,600. Both totals have since risen by ₹8,300 (our calculation: ₹18,900 − ₹10,600 and ₹23,900 − ₹15,600).

What will you pay before you sit the first exam?

Registration plus the exam fee comes to ₹19,900 for one group or ₹21,400 for both groups if you came through CSEET or CS Foundation, without the journal. Direct entrants pay ₹24,900 or ₹26,400. The exam fee is ₹1,500 per group.

A group is a set of Executive papers sat together. Group 1 has four papers and Group 2 has three, seven subjects in all. Our calculation, using the compulsory totals above and the ₹1,500 exam fee per group from ICSI's FAQ:

RouteOne groupBoth groups
CSEET or Foundation passed₹18,400 + ₹1,500 = ₹19,900₹18,400 + ₹3,000 = ₹21,400
Direct entry₹23,400 + ₹1,500 = ₹24,900₹23,400 + ₹3,000 = ₹26,400

Add ₹500 to each figure if you take the journal. A late exam form adds ₹250.

Who pays less?

Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) students receive a 50% concession on registration fees, and physically handicapped students pay only the registration fee, currently ₹2,000. Officers of the Indian Corporate Law Service (ICLS) in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs receive 100%. ICSI's FAQ lists further categories, such as armed forces families and students from specified regions.

Exam fees carry their own concessions. SC/ST students pay ₹750 per Executive group and physically handicapped students pay ₹375 per group, against ₹1,500 for the general category.

What is the cut-off date for CS Executive registration?

ICSI sets four recurring cut-offs. For the June session, register by 30 November for both groups or by 31 January for one group. For December, register by 31 May for both groups or by 31 July for one group. Late applicants cannot sit the immediate session.

As of October 2026, the cut-offs for December 2026 have passed. A registration made now targets June 2027, with 30 November 2026 for both groups and 31 January 2027 for one group, applying ICSI's standing pattern from its cut-off sheet. Check the current sheet before you pay.

How do students lose a session after registering?

Registration does not put your name on an exam. The exam form is a separate online step with its own window: for June, 26 February to 25 March without a late fee and until 9 April with ₹250; for December, 26 August to 25 September, then until 10 October with ₹250.

A student studies a wall planner with highlighted bands that mark a limited window for filing the exam form.
The exam form has its own short window, separate from registration, and missing it costs the session.

Completing TDOP is a condition for filling the exam form for registrations on or after 1 February 2025, and the online Pre-Exam Test must be completed successfully before you enrol for the main exams.

Our recommendation: treat 25 March and 25 September as your real deadlines, not the late-fee dates, and finish TDOP and the Pre-Exam Test before the window opens.

What should you check before paying?

Each test below is pass or fail. Any fail means you stop and fix it before paying.

  1. You can point to the one row of the route table that describes you. Pass if you can; fail if two rows seem to fit or none does.
  2. The amount you are about to pay equals your ICSI total (₹18,900 or ₹23,900), minus ₹500 if you do not want the journal. The journal is marked optional in ICSI's registration manual, so check its box on the payment screen.
  3. Payment will reach ICSI on or before the cut-off for your target session and your number of groups.
  4. If you are a final-year student, you hold the admit card to submit.
  5. You have noted the request ID and transaction ID shown on screen, as the manual instructs.
  6. You have paid once. If you paid twice, write to the Directorate of Student Services at [email protected] for a refund of the excess; for other payment problems use support.icsi.edu.

What happens after you register?

After registration, log in to SMASH, ICSI's online student portal, with your registration number as the user ID, then download your ID card and registration letter. Passwords are reset on the SMASH password page. TDOP and the Pre-Exam Test come before exam enrolment.

A student's hands pick up a freshly printed ID card and registration letter next to an open laptop.
Once registered, you log in to the portal and download your ID card and letter before moving on to exam steps.

TDOP costs ₹2,500 and is described in ICSI's TDOP notice. The Pre-Exam Test costs ₹1,000 and is taken online. Exam enrolment runs through the SMASH login: Module, then Enrolment, then Examination Enrolment Request. Registration is valid for five years.
